Wildlife conservation is the conservation or management of certain populations, species, ecosystems, or specific ecosystems of organisms which are defined as having an adverse affect on the eco-system. This may be done by studying local populations, their genetics, physiology, and the biology and distribution of their species. The environment may also be endangered through the impact of certain animals or their threats. In many cases, these endangered or protected animals will be brought back from the brink of extinction through hunting or relocation. Another method of wildlife conservation may be by law; for example, some populations of protected animals must be protected through legal means. This article explains more on wildlife conservation.

There are a number of different natural habitats for wildlife. Endangered habitats must be protected because their continued existence threaten the survival of a specific species or subspecies. Examples of such threatened habitats are apex predators like wolves, mountain goats, Asian black bear, caribou, sea lions, cormorants, and many others. They are also protected from human interference for instance endangered human beings. You can click for more about these wildlife.

One of the most successful and prominent efforts at conservation globally is the captive breeding program. A captive breeding program will allow the continued survival and evolution of certain species if they are allowed to breed in captivity. The project tiger is one example of a successful captive breeding program. This is due to the fact that reintroduction of these African Primates into the wild has been successful since the early 1990s. The success of this captive breeding program is based on the fact that the species was successfully returned to its natural habitat and it was able to reproduce naturally with the assistance of reproductive technologies.

Other examples of conservation genetics efforts include reintroduction of animals to certain areas or to different species of animals. These examples include bottlenose dolphin conservation, reintroduction of previously endangered or extinct animals, and establishment of numbers in certain species. One example is establishing of different number of black bear in the presence of one previously extinct species. Another example is establishing numbers of certain birds in presence of previously endangered species. These examples have had successful implementation to date.

There are other means of protecting wild species. One is to prevent overpopulation in nature. Another is through creation and maintenance of suitable habitats. Wildlife population control is also an important technique for managing overpopulation. Many techniques are used to control population sizes such as sterilization, introduction of reproductive material, reduction in space requirement for animal cages, etc. Some effective techniques for controlling overpopulation include promoting breeding through cage restrictions, removal of nuisance species and use of other alternative forms of attractants such as birdseed. This link: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wildlife_management will open up your mind even more on this topic.
